Fisher County VINE Changed
The Fisher County Sheriff still directs visitors to VINELink for offender custody status. That link records the county's former notification route. Texas replaced county VINE with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Existing registrations moved to the new service, and users were asked to update passwords and alert preferences. The current service can send notice of booking, release, transfer to TDCJ, escape, death, and certain court changes by call, text, or email.
This change matters in Fisher County because the jail is closed and local detainees are boarded outside the county. A record may appear under the receiving agency rather than a Fisher jail name. Statewide migration and the sheriff's old VINE link do not prove that every current Fisher booking reaches the live county portal. Search Fisher County first. If the portal has no Fisher option or misses a known booking, use the assistance line at 866-268-8959 and ask the sheriff which jail actually held the person.
The official state transition page is shown below so the current route can be recognized.

The state page is the safer starting point when an old county link and a new vendor portal do not match.
Search a Fisher County Inmate
A specific-person check needs more than a name. Collect the full name, spelling variants, date of birth when available, cause number, booking date, and any SID or TDCJ number. These details reduce the risk of joining two records that belong to different people. The county portal is for county booking and case events. The TDCJ portal is for state prison, parole, and mandatory supervision.
- Open the Attorney General victim-notification page and follow its IVSS-Counties link.
- Choose the offender or case search and look for Fisher County or the boarding agency named by Fisher Sheriff.
- Enter the exact name and available narrowing details. Compare agency, case, dates, and identifying numbers before opening a match.
- Read the event label and timestamp. Save the agency name because a transfer can close one custody record while another remains active.
- If the result says released, request the jail transaction and court order to learn whether it was community release or transfer.
A missing result is not proof of release. Fisher has no public current roster or release archive, and the unnamed boarding jail adds another place where the record may reside. The broader Fisher County released-inmate lookup explains how the sheriff register and court file complete the search.
Fisher County Release Alert Fields
Save the event screen or message while it is available. Dynamic portals can update the label, timestamp, or participating agency after a correction. A dated copy helps explain what was known at the time and supports a clear follow-up request.
An IVSS result is an event notice, not a certified release record. Copy the words shown rather than translating them into a broader claim. “Transfer” means custody continued. “Released” should still be checked against the physical custodian's transaction because the event may omit the detailed release type.
| Field or event | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Agency or facility | Which participating body supplied the event |
| Name and identifier | Which person or case the alert concerns |
| Custody status | The source's stated status at the time shown |
| Event date and time | When the system recorded a booking, release, or transfer event |
| Notification choice | The call, text, or email route selected by the registrant |
For a Fisher arrestee, the strongest proof is the sheriff's permanent jail register plus the boarding jail's release or transfer sheet. The court file can add the bond, dismissal, sentence, or release order. Two sources are useful when a status will guide a safety plan or legal decision.
Preserve the query, identifiers used, source name, access time, event label, and agency. If two systems disagree, report the conflict. The physical custodian is the best source for the exit timestamp. The sentencing court controls the disposition, while the supervising agency controls current supervision status. These records can describe different moments without either being wrong.
Set Fisher County Release Alerts
Registration follows the current portal prompts. Texas IVSS-Counties offers calls, texts, and email, with preference controls. The old Texas VINE method used a four-digit PIN to acknowledge telephone calls, but that is a legacy rule. A 2026 user should complete the account, contact, and acknowledgement steps the IVSS screen actually displays.
- Open the correct person or case after checking the identifiers and reporting agency.
- Select the notification option offered for that record.
- Choose call, text, email, or the available mix and confirm each contact method.
- Set preferred hours or blackout choices where the current portal permits them.
- Review the saved record and test account access so preferences can be changed later.
Keep the exact event message. It may distinguish release, transfer, escape, death, or a court change. If an old VINE registration was moved during the statewide transition, sign in to the current service and review the password and preferences instead of assuming the old settings remain complete.
TDCJ Fisher Release Notifications
A person sent to a Texas prison belongs in the separate TDCJ IVSS system. It accepts a name, SID number, current TDCJ number, or former TDCJ number. Wildcard search tips are available in the official interface. After choosing the correct result, “View Details” leads to status information and subscription options. This service can cover a person in TDCJ custody or on parole or mandatory supervision. It is not Fisher County's jail archive.
TDCJ records may show expected release, actual release or status, intake, and facility data, depending on the record. Parole means release from prison into supervision. It is not sentence discharge. A projected date is also not proof that the person left. Confirm an actual status and date after the planned event.
The official registration screen helps distinguish this state system from IVSS-Counties.

Registration is described by the agency as free and confidential, and it can be used by a victim, witness, surviving family member, or concerned citizen.
When Fisher Release Alerts Arrive
Notification does not always occur at the instant of the custody event. TDCJ's March 2025 update says non-emergency after-hours notices may arrive during the next 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. delivery window. User blackout dates can defer a non-emergency message. Escape, warrant, and recapture notices remain emergency events and are sent in real time under the agency's description.
That timing gap is important when someone needs a confirmed physical release time. Save the alert, then contact the office that held the person. For a Fisher booking, ask for the permanent register entry and the named boarding jail's exit transaction. For TDCJ custody, compare the public detail record and IVSS status. A message is a prompt to verify, not a certified record.
Confirm Fisher County Release Status
No one notification service covers every type of custody. IVSS-Counties concerns county booking and case events. TDCJ IVSS concerns state prison and post-prison supervision. The BOP locator is the first source for a former federal prisoner. ICE uses its detainee locator for current immigration custody, and USMS location questions generally go to the relevant district or holding facility.
Ask Fisher Sheriff which jail held the person on the date at issue. Then obtain the release or transfer timestamp, the event code, and the receiving agency field. A court bond or order explains legal authority, but it may precede the actual exit. If the record shows transfer, follow the chain to the next custodian. If sources conflict, preserve both dates and prefer the physical custodian for the exit time.
Fisher Release Verification Routes
The system that sends an alert may not be the office that can certify the event. For a Fisher arrest, begin with Fisher Sheriff and the jail it names as the physical custodian. Request the permanent jail-register entry, release or transfer sheet, and receiving-agency field. Compare that record with the bond, dismissal, judgment, or release order in the County Clerk or District Clerk file. The court explains the authority. The jail records the physical exit.
A person committed to TDCJ follows a different path. Search the TDCJ detail record and state IVSS. Capture status, unit, projected and actual date fields, supervision status, and the retrieval time. If parole or mandatory supervision appears, the person may be out of prison but still under sentence. The Abilene District Parole Office is the field-supervision office mapped to Fisher County, though staff should confirm the person's actual reporting location.
| Question | First record | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Did a Fisher detainee leave jail? | Fisher register and boarding-jail exit | A missing web result is not release |
| Was the exit a transfer? | Transfer sheet and receiving-agency field | A closed booking is not freedom |
| Did a Texas prisoner leave prison? | TDCJ actual status or release date | A projected date is not completed release |
| Is supervision still active? | TDCJ IVSS and parole office | Physical release is not discharge |
| Did federal custody end? | BOP locator and federal record | Not in BOP custody does not rule out another custodian |
ICE's locator concerns current immigration detention and is not a historical release archive. USMS has no general public historic locator like BOP. A county-to-federal handoff is a transfer until a later source proves release. Each alert should therefore be read within its custody system.
